A Blog of Manhattan KS Chiropractor Dr. Rich Foveaux DC, MS, DACBSP
Two former instructors of mine at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO were recently published in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a well-designed randomized controlled trial looking at reducing back pain and increasing function for women during pregnancy. Dr. George and Dr. Skaggs found that expecting mothers that had combination of standard OB care and chiropractic manual therapy on soft tissues and muscles of the low back, pelvis, and hips with stability exercises and home care advice had significantly less pain and better function than pregnant women that had only standard OB care.
Manual therapy and stability training can help reduce pregnancy related back pain and improve your function!
Dr’s George and Skaggs were key influential instructors to me regarding physical rehabilitation and manual therapy. At JointFit, you will find the same philosophy and methods utilized for evaluating and treating pregnant women that was utilized in this well done study!
